Manchester City surprised many by trashing Sevilla 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League. Including me.
I had barely settled down to watch the game by the time they were already two goals up against Unai Emery's side.
In all honesty, I had planned to watch the game between Real Madrid and PSG but judging by the way those two rolled around each other in the first leg like two castrated dogs made me a bit hesitant.
Those early goals in Sevilla turned my head and by the time the third goal slammed past Joe Hart within the first half hour to give the home side a lifeline, I was totally hooked.
Since Madrid vs PSG never really came alive despite a Nacho goal, I'm not miffed I did.
Seriously, though, I couldn't believe the Man City on display on the night. A team that always bottled it on the European stage despite their league domination finally got it right at no other place but the home ground of the Europa League champions. That win ended the Spanish side's run of 10 consecutive European home wins.
Sterling got his first Champions League goal. Fernandinho netted another before Bony made certain with a clinical finish. The English side scored three but they could have added another three or four.
They werre direct, ambitious and savaged after Sevilla like one possessed.
Sevilla were not poor at all, they just didn't know what hit them.
You have to give credit to Man City, Pellegrini or the demon that got into his players.
