Twelve games into the current league season and the
defending champions are hovering just over the relegation zone with a mere 11
points. Talks have thus been rife about the Portuguese's sack.
Truth
is, if the Chelsea board was made up of journalists and pundits, Mourinho would
have been given the boot after the Southampton game. Since then his team has
lost to Liverpool at home and Stoke away.
But
Abrahamovic has resisted the urge to fire his manager, knowing it would be
foolish to do so.Why?
1. Because Mou is the best manager in the world.
His
CV is impressive and not many coaches can boast of a tenth of his records. The
likes of Ancelotti and Hiddink who have been proposed as his replacements are
at best his equals. Mou trumps all the others by a naughtical mile. And that
includes Arsenal's Wenger.
2. He's a Chelsea fan.
Chelsea
fans have the singular honour of having one of them manage the team. Not many
big sides enjoy that luxury. It's like when Pep was in charge of Barcelona or
Ancelotti handling AC Milan or Arsene at Arsenal. They are not just coaches
earning their pay, they feel every loss and share in the pain and joy just like
any in the stand.
3. Mou has the player's support.
Allegations
have been made of certains players playing below standard in an effort to
engineer the gaffer's sack. However, contrary to reports, the Portuguese is
backed by his first team squad. Mikel, Oscar, Hazard, Matic and even skipper
Terry has voiced out support for the beleaguered boss.
4.
His replacement isn't better than him
Say
Chelsea sacks Mou now, who will they pick to wear his cap? Pep? He won't be
available till end of season. Villas Boas? Chelsea know better. Moyes? That's
dumb. Klopp? Liverpool snapped that one. Pellegrini? Happy where he is.
Ancelotti? Not eager to return just yet. Simeone? Emotionally attached to
Athletico. It's hard to find one then who could turn the Blues fortunes around
in a short term.
5.
Chelsea fans love Mou
Nearly
all Chelsea fans love and adore him. They craved for years to have him back
while he was busy bringing success to other clubs. And now that they have him
where they want him, they are in no hurry to boot him out. No other manager
would have taken the Pride of London to such embarassing depth and still don't
have any call for his head.
It's
simple. The fans know it would be foolish to sack the best coach in the world.
And after the loss against Stoke, we now know that the Chelsea board knows it too.
6.
Other Clubs are waiting for Chelsea to make that mistake
Monaco
have already made enquiries and they are willing to pay top dollar for his
services.
The
very day Chelsea dumps Mou, I know 5 clubs who won't wait before sunset before
offering him a job. And I'd be betting a month's wages that PSG would be one of them.
It's up to Abrahamovic to decide!
