Finally, finally, new Liverpool manager savoured his first victory in English football. Albeit in the Capital One Cup and against a team playing lower league football just four months ago.
But in a period when Arsenal and Man United succumbed dramatically to similar foes, no one should begrudge the German if he takes a couple more drinks than usual.
On the night, the Reds showed a bit more hunger than normal, fought hard and got a yard more work from the likes of Clyne and Firmino.
This result, plus the boost it brings, is probably what Klopp and his wards needs heading to the weekend. Bring on Chelsea!
Over in Manchester, however, this is not the best time to wear red. While city rivals Man City were painting the place blue with goals against everybody else's bogey team (Crystal Palace), Man United were busy getting schooled by Boro.
If LVG's philosophy is to bore us to sleep with possession football, well, he's doing a great job of it. But then possession football is crap if it can't get you goals. Especially against Championship sides.
Fans can continue to label Rooney and Memphis as flops but a little reality check and they would see that it's the manager's playing style that's not getting the best out of his finest players.
Possession stats may be generous to the Dutchman's team but United have been woeful in the attacking areas and the manager need to stop pointing accusing fingers at his players and start looking at himself.
I used to be a strong believer that the Premier League was the best in Europe. Coming out of a week that saw giants Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal lose to inferior oppositions, I'm no longer convinced it is even the best in England.
