Mourinho has never had it this tough and with Chelsea enduring their worst start to a league season in almost 3 decades, the pressure can't be any higher. The defending champions have only won once in five EPL games and it certainly isn't the best of times to meet a solid-looking Arsenal side.
And with opposing fans already hurling the relegation tunes at The Blues, even if it is in mockery, the 'Special One' can buck the sliding trend with this 5 tips.
1. Raise the moral
Confidence in the squad is not low at the moment, it's shitty. The defending champions are bruised, battered and broken.
Hazard fears the kill. Fabregas plays like his wife's just lost a kid. Cahill's out of sorts. Even Pedro seems bitten by the infection.
Mourinho's got to do something and pretty fast too.
Take the team to see the movie 300. Hire a motivational speaker to talk to the squad. Anything but the excuses Mou gives after every defeat.
2. Bench Iva
Ivanovic's struggles didn't just start this season, it was evident towards the latter part of last season. But as Chelsea coasted home to the title, it was largely forgivable.
But not anymore. The Blues need points. Yet every time Ivanovic plays, it seems more likely they will lose than win.
The Serbian is slower and a bit more sluggish than usual becoming the Blues' weakest link and an easy target for fast, tricky wingers.
Mourinho should consider benching him or atleast shift him to centreback.
3. Zouma is not ready
Zouma is fast and strong and all that but he's not yet an accomplished Premier League regular. Kurt came in at halftime against City and the Blues still shipped in two goals. He fared no better even as a starter against Everton and was directly to blame for at least one of Everton's 3 goals.
Move Ivanovic back to CB, if he's so un-benchable. Restore Cahill to the first XI. Let Terry lead the line from the bench.
Whatever.
Just allow Zouma learn his trade in the Carling Cup.
4. Drop Fabregas
Cesc was as crucial to Chelsea's title triumph last time out as Hazard, providing assists from all angles and dictating play from midfield.
Arsenal fans watched with envy. Barcelona, with pride.
Chelsea played pretty and won convincingly. And Fabregas played a huge part in it.
But visibly he's dropped form.
Playing deep alongside Matic or further forward, the Spaniard appears largely uninterested with proceedings.
A little time on the bench may help him clear his head, though.
5. Spend some more
Chelsea already have a reputation as big spenders but spent the best part of last season playing with the same first XI. If Mou believes that will work again, well, he needs a doctor. And it doesn't have to be Eva.
They've got fine striking alternatives in Remy & Falcao but with the departures of Cuardrado and Moses, a lot is certainly expected of Kenedy.
And what if he's no Martial?
Mourinho's got January around the corner to rectify that!
